The Importance of Home

This month has never been so poignant for us.

This is our 12th package. Next month will be year 2 since launching.

At the same time, we were due to move house but our sellers pulled out last minute forcing us to decide between selling anyway or putting our house back on the market again. We decided to sell anyway so are now currently living with my parents.

In case you haven't realised yet, our book theme this month is also HOME. Check out our introduction to the theme here: http://www.thehappybookclub.co.uk/single-post/2017/07/13/Home-Is-Where-the-Book-Is

Further still, last weekend, when we were moving from one home to another temporary home, radio 6 music played a collaborative playlist and the title was 'Songs to do with HOME'. It all seemed perfect.

Since then I've thought a lot about what a home is, how some people depend on it and some do not, and a home's importance. Indeed I've made my own Home playlist on Spotify (feel free to check it out and add any additions yourself: https://open.spotify.com/user/guillematt/playlist/3o37vEv6gZZyhcHJqGbNNm)

And the thing to take away? That as long as you have your family and friends, that's really all that matters. And I can say that from my parents' kitchen table with confidence. Indeed, despite the stress and disappointment, our little one managed to put things into perspective. Her blissful ignorance and appreciation of the sunshine and some cardboard boxes really helped.

And what do we find more rewarding than anything else? Well those special little times with her. Yes, reading with her, but also playing, singing, whatever really. It reinforces why we do the Happy Book Club. Despite everything, making time with your little ones, whether you're moving house or otherwise, is more precious and important than anything. And that's what we deliver. Not just books. But family moments.

For those who are not in a fortunate enough position to have what may be considered a home, we will be donating a proportion of each package to Emmaus - a charity aiming to tackle homelessness.

So if you haven't subscribed before, or even if you have, why not join us now? It's never too late to start reading beautiful books with your little ones. And I say that sincerely, not as a business owner, but as a very lucky Dad.
