Books to Get Your Teeth Into!
This month's theme is food. Lovely food. Or, as toddlers occasionally interpret it, horrible food.
There's nothing horrible about our beautiful books though. As always, the top few are the ones we included in our package and the bottom few are some other eggs-elent suggestions.
REVIEWS TO ALL OF THESE ARE FEATURED ON OUR 'PREVIOUS PACKAGES' PAGE!
Here are some other fantastic foody books for little ones. If you have any other suggestions, do make sure you add your comments on any of our social media pages!
Lunchtime by Rebecca Cobb
Rebecca Cobb is such a wonderful illustrator and this book continues to encapsulate the innocent, imaginative images that she regularly produces. This story tells the tale of a little girl who isn't hungry but other animals, hungrier animals, start turning up to dinner. Sweet and fun, it's a great way to get little ones talking about food.
Apple Pie ABC by Alison Murray
A delicious picture alphabet book. As with all alphabet books, it goes through the alphabet. This one however is one of our favourites. Each letter stands for something to do with baking (an apple pie if you hadn't guessed). Simple and sweet. Great for very little ones.
Daisy - Eat Your Peas by Kes Gray and Nick Sharratt
Kes Gray is making a well-deserved name for himself. All of his books seem to contain humour that is appreciated by both adults and children alike and this is no different. A mum tries desperately to get her daughter to eat much hated peas and ends up promising more and more things. The punchline comes at the end when the daughter asks the mum to eat something she doesn't like. A great book about food and counting.
Chicken in the Kitchen by Nnedi Okorafor
One of our favourite publishers have produced this wonderful book about a little girl, Anyaugo, who tries desperately to save food for the New Yam Festival from A mischievous chicken. A colourful, rich book that promotes conversation about food, culture and adventure.
I Like Peas by Lorena Siminovich
Another board book for those little ones. And not only is it about food, it's got textures for little fingers to explore and opposites for little minds to learn. Wonderfully done.
