Books That Encourage Imagination
Each month, our Happy Book Clubbers get sent two wonderful books that go with a particular theme. This month they received two of our absolute favourites but there were others that almost made the cut.
Below we've compiled a list of our five other favourites!
Our Books

Use Your Imagination by Nicola O' Byrne
The Wonder by Faye Hanson
The Ones You May Have Missed
Poppy Pickle by Emma Yarlett
Emma Yarlett is such an incredible story teller and illustrator. This story follows a 'Little girl with a big imagination' and how she let's her imagination get a little bit too wild. Funny and cheeky for all the right reasons. Quirky bits for adults to appreciate too. Well worth a read with 3-6 year olds.
Journey by Aaron Becker
A word-less picture book that forces the reader to imagine! Exceptional, magical worlds are created in this book and, because it's word-less, is accessible to so many children. This is one of the Journey trilogy so if you like it, there are others!
Leon and the Place Between by Angela McAllister and Grahame Baker-Smith
Not easy to include this book in our list purely on the grounds that this is EXACTLY the sort of book we love to provide for our Happy Book Club subscribers! It's just stunning. Personally, it made me forget about the usual rituals of life and got me completely absorbed. So it's even more appropriate for children! Perfect for 4-7 year olds, we reckon.
Just Imagine by Pippa Goodhart and Nick Sharratt
Nick Sharratt's illustrations can, in my professional opinion, can be somewhat too bold and in-your-face. But this book lends itself excellently to his drawings. It can be used for a light read as the rhyming can bounce you through quite rapidly but it can also be used for depth. With excellent questioning and vivid, lively drawings, this should provide entertainment for most little ones. Age 2-6.
The Story Machine by Tom McLaughlin
An inspiring story about how boy manages to make his own stories even when the story machine breaks! This book is a great platform to add you own ideas. Something, that we're particularly grateful for at The Happy Book Club.
