Just Play

This month's Happy Book Club theme is Imagination. Inspired, I thought I would post a few pics of my very own little one using hers.
Here we are making stick figures with sticks and too much glitter.

Here she is making roads out of pencils.

Here she is selling me a whole basket of fake food for 10p. Bargain.

Here she's flying to the moon. Although any old box will do.

Here she's making tea for some of her teddies. Not all of them. Just the ones that like camping indoors.

And, finally, here she is painting with sweet potatoes, loo roll and good old paint brushes.

It doesn't take much wisdom to recognise that most of these ideas came from her. Indeed, with the freedom to play and explore, she uses her imagination by default.
Below is a link to a wonderful article written by the National Literacy Trust listing the top 10 reasons why play is important. Do check it out if you get the chance.
Simply put, play is good.
Keep playing.
And reading.
Matt.
